writing any western European language on the web. Notes which
follow the table will explain how you can code
characters which do not appear on your keyboard, or which you wish to hide from
the browser.

Characters that do not appear on the keyboard (i.e. those with values
above 126) can be coded in HTML documents as
&#nnn
where nnn is the character value from the preceding table. Use leading
zeroes to represent two-digit values as three digits.
This technique is frequently used to display HTML tags on web pages. For
example, the HTML code for creating a link to Clive's Bulgar Ewe News is
<A HREF="http://www.angelfire.com/ar2/bugariu">Clive's Place</A>
which will appear on the page as
Clive's Place.
All that's necessary to prevent the browser from interpreting an HTML tag
is to code the opening bracket as <.
On the Web
Certain characters that have special meaning to web browsers can
be coded using special synonyms. Here are some examples:
