#1: Yin and Yang
Out of all the different character relationships in Dragon Ball, Goku and Bulma have the most interesting. Don't agree? Let me explain.
First off, we'll take an analysis of their characters. Now, Goku is naive, trusting, and easygoing. Bulma is worldly, sceptical, and stressed out. Basicly, they're almost complete opposites. And this is precisly why such a relationship would work.
When it comes to character dynamics, Goku and Bulma are topnotch. Their personalities complement ench other perfectly, and provide the level of friction nessesary to keep a relationship active and interesting. The Bulma/Vegeta relationship can't claim this. Neither can the Goku/Chichi relationship. Only Goku and Bulma.
#2: Adventuring Spirit
I've talked about the differences between their characters. Now, let's talk about the similarities. Now, if you were to say that these two are nothing alike, you'd be only half-right. There is, in fact, one common interest that they both share. Their love for adventure.
Neither of them are content just to sit around and count their wrinkles. Both Goku and Bulma are always going off on journeys together, searching for Dragon Balls or whatever. Now, there is no better way to build a interesting relationship than to journey together. It promises new sights, new people, and new situations to share.
#3 Teamwork
In terms of getting past the various obstacles in a quest, these two have got it nailed. Both of them have abilities that perfectly compliment ench other. Bulma has all the technical know-how to pop a gadget to get them out of a jam. And Goku has the martial-arts skill to obliterate any opposition that stands in their way.
Brains and Brawn, the perfect combination. Need I say more?
#4 Yin and Yang Revisited
Going back to #1, the Yin and Yang aspects of their personality had an additional side-effect going for them. And that is the ruboff theory. Like all people, Goku and Bulma have bad traits as well as good. However, in the long run, these traits will end up cancelling each other out. Bulma has the common sence to keep Goku from doing anything rediculously stupid and getting into trouble. And Goku has the good will to subdue Bulma's selfish side and keep her helping others.
They both act as counters for each other's weaknesses. And I believe, in time, that their better personality traits will eventually rub off on each other, making them more complete indivisuals that they would be otherwise.
#5 Fanfiction Potential
Sometimes it surprises me that few people have tried a Goku and Bulma fanfiction. Because, when you take all of the elements above, you have ample material to work with, perhaps ever more than Bulma/Vegeta or Goku/Chichi. The idea is very adaptable, fun to execute, and can be done in a variety of ways. They could fall in love on one of their adventures, in some mystical and exotic locile. Or they could fall in love in some sort of really peculiar situation that they have a habit of getting into. There's no end to the ideas you could come up with.
#6 Romance Potential: Bulma
Perhaps you don't believe that Bulma could fall in love with Goku. But this belief can be discounted when a close look is taken at the Dragon Ball Saga. In fact, with all the pieces put together, you could actually make the argument that Bulma is already in love with Goku.
Bulma has shown more feeling toward Goku than any other character. She thinks extremely highly of him, way more higher than even Vegeta. (ex: Trunks Special) She thinks about him, and shows large emotion. Heck, she's even had crushes on him from time to time.
To put it short, Goku is Bulma's hero. And I think it shows.
Well, there you have it, my comprehensive list on why the relationship would work. And as I close this section, I leave you with my final reason to why I support the Goku/Bulma couple. The 7th reason is: I just do. I think they look good together. And that's my two cents.
