These will come out different every time and that is what I love about them.  To make a flower this size I started with  a new transparent image 800 x 800 pixels.

I like to fill this bottom layer with black so I can see it better when I'm working with white.  You can do this if you want.  You can either use a round preset or draw an ellipse with your selection tool and fill it with white.  I used the selection tool so I would have a perfect circle and so It was already selected.

Go to Selections, Modify, contract 10

Then hit delete so you have something that looks like this.  Don't deselect.

If you don't already have this in your textures folder you can click it an save it to that folder.

Fill your circle using white and this texture so it looks like this.

Now I make a new raster layer and this is what makes them all different.  With your pen tool start drawing.  Here is mine.  You can experiment using different things for this layer.

Once you have done this close off your bottom layer and merge visible.  Turn back on the bottom layer so you can see what happens next.

Go to Effects, Reflection Effects, Kaleidoscope and use these settings.

Now you have several things you could use in your kit if you want to.  Use your lasso tool to go around this.

Edit, copy and now you have a petal.  I opened a new image 400 x400 and pasted it as a new layer.  Duplicate the layer, go to Image, flip then Image Mirror.

Line up your petals like this.  Merge visible (Don't forget to close your bottom layer first if you have a color underneath.

Layer duplicate, Image rotate with these settings

Repeat until you have your flower then turn off that bottom layer again if you have it on and merge visible.

I drew a stem and colored the single petal to make the leaf.  I had a hard time figuring out how to color the white leaf because it either didn't color or it was very light.  This is how I did it.  I went to "Adjust - Color Balance - Black and White points.  It had color then and I could change it to green.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial as much as I did making it.

Big Hugs,

Rita
