It was an old picture, taken during the war. Quatre smiled softly, remembering. The war had seemed it would never end, that he'd always be fifteen.

The photo was black and white, something Quatre had started shooting thinking it looked more romantic, surreal, that it couldn't capture the stark truth of the world.

And yet it did. In that picture, an eternally young Chang Wufei stood, paused forever in one of the motions of his daily excercises, muscles taught, brow straining in concentration.

Quatre sighed bitterly. Wufei had never known about this picture, his obsession. And now, he never would.
