River Rapids Rules

By looking at my site and/or adopting any cyber animal within this site, you are agreeing to all rules listed here related to any activity you do. Failure to follow any listed rule will result in my taking adopted pets back, temporarily or permanently banning you from adoption, informing my fellow catterists at the CCA and/or breeders in the CFRS, and/or contacting your server to take actions against you which may include deleting your site completely. Punishment will be whatever I feel is justified based on the severity of the situation, and on your server's rules about stealing other people's work.
  1. You must have a personal website to adopt any cyber pet from here. (If you don't have a site, you can still enjoy internet-based virtual pets listed here.)

  2. Your site must be child/youth-safe. It may NOT contain porn, hate, violence, excessive cursing, warez(pirated software), or anything else illegal or theatening--even just in joke.

  3. Your site must be with a reliable server. Neopets, Expage, CommunityZero, and Maxpage are not acceptable. If you can't find a good server, search here.

  4. You must upload graphics to your own server. Direct linking is bandwidth stealing, a big no-no. Plus, my server has defenses against people trying to steal bandwidth.

  5. You must link to me on every page where my graphics are used. (To understand why click here.) You may link to either http://rrc.cjb.net or to the subsection of the adoption center (either rats, cats, or Greyhounds). You may use one of my banners if you like.

  6. You may not alter my graphics. This includes, but isn't limited to changing color, size, or transparency, erasing or adding anything, using the graphic(s) (in part or whole) as part of any other graphics (including banners, buttons, etc.) ALTERATIONS DO NOT MAKE THE PIC YOURS! NO MATTER WHAT!!!

  7. You may never give any of my graphics to another person. Neither falsely as your own work or public domain, nor even when giving me full credit.

  8. You must read and understand all practices of proper Netiquette.

  9. These graphics are to be used as cyber pets only! They may not be used as buttons or navigation tools, in graphic collections, as background images or in javascript effects, as desktop wallpaper, in stationary, decals, t-shirts, or in any other way.

  10. To adopt from a litter or from the cat pound, you must have an email address.

  11. Litters are adopted by email/form, and may not be taken from this site or placed on the site of anyone besides the chosen adopter. (The other adoptions are click-and-take.)

  12. Any graphic not in an adoption section and marked for adoption or download are not allowed to be taken from this site. This includes all of my pets (both ones I've drawn and ones I've adopted), backgrounds, buttons, awards, and anything else.

  13. You may not adopt another pet until previous ones are placed on your site at the URL you gave me on the form or one clearly linked to from that page.

  14. If you are delayed or lose a graphic before being able to put it up, email me, and we'll talk.

  15. If you change your URL, please move your previously adopted pets there or use the old site for future adoptions. If you no longer want your River Rapids animals, do not delete them or give them to someone else. Return them to me.

  16. Do not pretend to be someone else. If you change your handle/email/site, make sure I know you're the same person.

  17. You may adopt only one cat per litter. (Due to how I choose adopters, however, you are less likely to adopt from consecutive litters than someone who hasn't adopted in a while.)

  18. You must fill out the form completely. Any incomplete forms will be deleted. You must enter a WORKING email address and site URL. Saying that you are working on one, haven't uploaded it yet, have one but it's not ready yet, etc. is not acceptable.

  19. You must put up your graphics and any info you want as soon as possible. If you lose the graphic or wait to long, I will most likely not have the graphic(s) to send you.

  20. To breed a cat from a litter, you must be a member of the CCA and follow the guidelines and standards. (This rule is to ensure responsible, realistic, and unified breeding.)

  21. You must have the adult stage of the cat on your site to breed it.

  22. All rescues/pound/click-and-take animals are spayed/neutered and cannot be bred, as are animals from litters not going to breeders or at the adopter's request.

  23. Rescued Greyhounds cannot be bred, show, raced, or used for hunting. They may take part in cyber agility, fun runs, lure coursing, and therapy work, but are best at being couch potatoes.

  24. You MUST respect the rules of every member (including owners) of the CCA, as well as any other cyber adoption center or club. (I put emphasis on the CCA because I am part of it and we support and inform each other of potentially irresponsible or troublesome adopters.) You might not (I don't) agree with all of them on everything or like them personally, but you better respect their creations and follow their rules (including accepting any and all penalties for breaking them).

  25. Respect my decisions, and don't whine if things don't happen as you want them to. If you have good reasons, you're welcome to plead your case, but all adoptions are final. I won't change adopters once they are chosen for a given litter. I also reserve the right to reject adoption to any person for any reason or no reason at all (but I probably won't). I base my adopter choices on website quality as well as when you adopted last and whether you breed the breed/type of animal. I will seldom deny adoption to any first time adopter with a decent website and who follows the rules.
