2001 ON THE WHOLE
Hail hail to the Year 2001. Ok I noe its kinda late to post a message to bid goodbye for the Year 2001, but hey better late then never rite? Oh well, personally the year has been very interesting. And so i'm sharing it in a chronological manner. If ure so free or rather kay poh (busybody) enough to see what i had been up to...by all means mate...Enjoy!
January Well at this point of time, I was jus bored being a Platoon Commander. But somehow I was jus as happy being comfortable...slacking around all day with David in the bunk. Its not that we are lazy...Just that the new batch of recruits hasn't arrive. February Finally, the month where my second batch of recuits arrive. As usual nobody's perfect, and so 40 (thats how many recuits i got) more problems for me to rectify. Oh yah, I also became an Advanced Open Water Diver after the dive trip in Pulau Dayang... One of the highlights I remember for Feb was that I was "arrowed" to become the Emcee for The SCDF Rockclimbing Competition. Darn, that was a cool exposure i'd say. The competion also involved other Organizations in the Home Team. But the Best Thing ever happened for this month was that, I was chosen to be a National Flag Bearer for the 25th BOC Dining In Cermony. And wats more on the day of the ceremony, I received news that I'll be transferred to Changi Fire Station In March!!! Life was perfect. Or so it seems... March So I finally made it to Changi Fire Station...but not before I lead my obese recruits to Third Place in the Footdrill Competition. And I almost pipped Ghani for the Best Platoon Commander Award...Oh well... I think life in the Fire Station was super cool...but it also comes with loads of responsibilities. I'd say the first month in a station was pretty weird...I had to adapt to the working shift rotation, 24 hours work - 48 hours rest. I'll leave out all info regarding the fire fighting and rescue operations as i think its pretty confidential...sorry yeah mate! April What can i say...I finally understood why life as a Rota Commander was taxing. As much as we were given 48 hours rest, I guess a third of that was used to do other stuff like attend meetings and take up minor projects... May Well, a highlight here was that i was again "arrowed" to be an Emcee for a Public Exercise at Haig Road. The bad thing was that i had to speak in Malay...ahh so tough! I got a dear fren to help me with the script...Thx mate if ure reading this! I guess the downside for the month was that a dear freind of mine got diagnosed with Cancer...Oh well thats another story I supposed... And so I decided to leave the contry for a short Solo Backpacking Trip to Pulau Sibu...It was totally unplanned and i had loads of shortcomings to rectify...Yeah It was fun...but to think of it again it was kinda dangerous! I'll leave the details out cos my parents still dunno about it...sshhh... June My eyesight was very poor, my degrees was like 800 for each eye! And so, I decided to go for a LASIK Ops. I won't go in details here but if you'd like to get more info do email me. By the way, my eyesight is now perfect... The Next Six Months...
