Here are three methods that can be used to accomodate an extra device where only one ethernet drop is available.
Things to consider before you start..
- Do you have an extra, unused hub/switch port at the IDF?
- Do you have ethernet jacks/outlets and a crimp tool?
- Do you have an extra pair of patch cord/s of the correct length/s?
**If you are a catalog shopper,

Buy two of these and two patch cords and.. plug into both ends
of your ethernet drop. (Pro: Quick, Con: expensive, has legs)
**If you care about neatness,
Buy one ethernet outlet that will fit into your existing box. Most boxes will accomodate two more outlets. Carefully remove the "blue pair" and the "brown pair" (of wires) from the existing jack then use a punchdown tool or small screwdriver to connect blue and brown pairs to the additional outlet where the orange and green pairs connect. For consistency use the broen where the orange goes and the blue where the green goes. Then make "one" of these cables using CAT5 and 3 RJ45 Jacks for use at the IDF end of this drop.**For the total, custom, DIY nut (like me)

Make 2 of these cables for the exact length that is needed. Plug and play.
