Sridhar Seetharaman's
Chord Tutorial
Sridhar Seetharaman lives in New Jersey and plays keyboards in a TFM/HFM band. He has a great passion for music - especially for harmony. He is forever excited by harmony theory and how classical composers like Mozart and Bach and our modern Raja and Rahman have used it to great effects. Here is Sridhar's no-nonsense introduction to western harmony practice. It is meant for beginners - and this is how it started: I requested Sridhar to give me basics of chords. I found his introduction very clean and helpful. The examples and exercises were so good - to the point and effective, so we thought we should make it available to all beginners. This is a multi-part series - beginning with the idea of scale, the major and minor scales, and then intervals and proceeding to chords. If you are a beginner, do not skip a section hastily to see what comes next. Practice all the exercises. I benefited by doing these! Sridhar has just set the ball rolling. There are quite a few other TFM-fans who have studied harmony - Srikanth and Pal, for example. We expect them and others to jump in to add more. Of course, learner's feedback will be the most useful for other learners! Please send your questions, appreciation and thanks to Sridhar. |
