UPDATE: May 5, 2000: I stopped watching the show about three years ago (about the time I stopped updating my website) so everything here is hopelessly out of date. In the interests of historical curiousity I've left it up.

What is known about the X-Files conspiracy.

• There is a conspiracy, which we will call "The Conspiracy."
• The Conspiracy is in league with intelligent shape-shifting aliens.
• The Conspiracy is aware of the existence of other aliens.
• The Conspiracy does not want its existence, or the existence of aliens, revealed and will kill to prevent this.
• The Conspiracy may have control over human abductions. Cancer Man claimed he had Scully returned after her abduction, but he could have been lying. He also produced someone who appeared to be Fox's abducted sister, Samantha Mulder.
• The Conspiracy existed at the end of World War II and may have been founded at that time.
• The Conspiracy is American. Foreign powers have tried to obtain UFOs and been resisted by the Conspiracy. This does not mean the Conspiracy and the American government are the same.

  The shape-shifting aliens

• The shape-shifting aliens are cooperating with the Conspiracy on "The Project."
• These aliens are bound by an agreement made with the Conspiracy. Aliens who violate this agreement are hunted down and killed by fellow aliens. One of the terms of the agreement is that aliens must not openly display their powers to humans. This may be to prevent humans from learning about aliens.
• These aliens can change from one human form to another. They can imitate specific humans. They can only be killed by a spike-like device in the back of their neck.
• These aliens have access to cloning technology.
• The aliens have luminous, green blood which is also a 100% lethal airborne toxin. Except when the writers decide to ignore this fact.
• These aliens appear to be gathering medical data on all human beings. This appears to be related to "The Project."
• There is a faction of the shape-shifting aliens who are opposed to "The Project." This faction is killing abductees for unknown reasons.

  The Project

• The Conspiracy is involved in a grand scheme called "The Project."
• The Project involved the use of the smallpox vaccination, apparently to obtain tissue samples from most human beings.
• The Conspiracy maintains medical records on most Americans. Medical records for every human may also exist.
• The Conspiracy appears to be using human egg cells, harvested from abductees, to create genetically engineered children. The goal is unclear.
• The Conspiracy seems to fear the shape-shifting aliens. Their cooperation may be under duress.
• The Conspiracy seems to fear "The Black Cancer From Tunguska." This is an ill-defined creature that looks like an oil-slick and crawls up your nose. The Conspiracy seems to think the shape-shifting aliens may unleash the "Black Cancer" on Earth. If this is true, the cooperation of the shape-shifting aliens and The Conspiracy may be under duress.

  Both the Russians and the Conspiracy have been trying to develop a vaccine to stop the "Black Cancer." The Russians recently developed a vaccine, which former Conspiracy member Alex "The One-Armed Man" Krycek stole and gave to The Conspiracy.

  Abductions

• Human beings are being abducted by an unknown force.
• When returned, the humans are often implanted with mysterious electronic devices, possibly homing beacons.
• These implants have been correlated with cancer in several abductees. The cancer may have been caused by the removal of the implants.
• Men and women are abducted.
• The abductors, when reported, are a mix of Gray aliens and humans. These may be humans in costume, or shape-shifting aliens.
• When females are abducted their eggs are removed. Some of these eggs are used by the Conspiracy to create genetically-engineered children. The intent of these experiments is unknown.
• It is known that the U.S. Air Force, using sophisticated aircraft and alien costumes abducts citizens. This seems to be a separate phenomenon.

  The UFOs

• The Conspiracy has captured extraterrestrial spacecraft.
• Advanced UFO-like aircraft are operated by the U.S. Air Force. These planes may or may not be derived from ET technology. These planes may or may not be under the control of the Conspiracy.
• The Air Force pilots sometimes dress up as Gray aliens to fool onlookers.

  The Grays

  The Grays are the stereotypical bald, black-eyed aliens.
• Air Force pilots have dressed as Gray aliens to confuse witnesses to their activities. Any sightings or reports of Grays may be disguised humans.
• In the Cancer Man biography episode we saw a Gray and were told it was extraterrestrial. The Cancer Man episode was great, but it can not be used as evidence. The scenes we saw were based on the theories of conspiracy nut Frohike, and were not actual flashbacks.
• Corpses of Gray aliens have been seen. Large numbers were found in an abandoned railroad car in the American Southwest. These corpses bore smallpox scars.

  Author`s Note: This last item bears closer examination.

  If these creatures were extraterrestrials their bodies would contain a treasure trove of biological information. The Conspiracy apparently knew of the location of these bodies, yet left them to rot. Cancer Man also ordered them incinerated without a second thought. If alien they were a priceless treasure, but they were discarded like migrant workers.

  Also, dead bodies don't scar. So these "aliens" were vaccinated while alive. Dozens of live aliens would give the Conspiracy knowledge that would advance them centuries ahead of their fellow men, but we see no evidence of this. Also, why would aliens be vaccinated against a human virus?

  This suggests that the Grays are not aliens. I believe they are a product of human genetic engineering. The purpose of their creation however eludes me.

• A defector from the Department of Defense Advanced Research Agency claimed that Grays were "chimeras" created to decieve UFO buffs. This seems to be an awful lot of effort for a limited return. It also doesn't explain why foreign governments were so desperate to obtain Gray corpses, and why the Conspiracy was so intent on stopping them.

  If the Grays were created by humans they undoubtedly serve another purpose.

  Who's In the Conspiracy?

• The Conspiracy has the following known members:
  1. Cancer Man aka The Greatest Living American Patriot. (Emphasis on living)
  2. Well-Manicured man and his Manhattan townhouse buddies.
  3. Fox`s Dad (His legal dad. His real dad is Cancer Man).
  4. Deep Throat.
  5. Mr. X.
  The last three members of the Conspiracy have tried to expose it using Fox as a tool and were killed for their efforts. The Conspiracy even turned on Cancer Man and tried to have him killed. They will regret this decision.
• Cancer Man has power in Washington, especially with the FBI and elite military squads. The townhouse crowd has referred to Cancer Man as their man in Washington so it is possible that most of the conspirators work outside of the U.S. government
• The Conspiracy is not international in scope. It has battled the French, Japanese and Soviets for control of ET technology and Gray corpses.
• Alex Krycek (The One-Armed Man) was kicked out of the Conspiracy. Then he sold secrets to the highest bidder. Then he joined the militia movement. Then he joined the Russians. Then he betrayed the Russians. He's one mixed-up kid.
• Mulder's Yummy U.N. Informant (as this page predicted) is a Conspiracy disinformation agent.
• Director Skinner willingly became Cancer Man's tool in an effort to save Scully from cancer. He failed. What a wuss.

  Rumors

• The Conspiracy injected alien DNA into the U.S. population as part of an experiment.
• There is an international order (UN Security Council Resolution 1013) requiring aliens to be killed whenever captured. The Conspiracy may be violating this kill order.

  Possibilities

• The Grays we have seen could be a product of human genetic engineering. Agents of the Conspiracy believe this to be true.
• The other paranormal phenomenon we have seen could be fallout from genetic engineering experiments conducted on the public by the Conspiracy.
• The Project seems to involve collecting DNA samples from most humans and the collection of human eggs to create clones. The Project might involve the cloning of most of the human race. The reason for this is unknown.

  Unanswered questions

  Are Grays aliens or the product of human genetic engineering?
  Evidence points to the latter. The reason for their existence is unknown. Possibly they were the first crude steps of "The Project."

  Who is abducting human beings?
  Still unanswered. The abductions we have seen are beyond human capability, but The Conspiracy is obtaining egg cells from abducted women. Most likely the shape-shifting aliens are doing the abductions as their part of "The Project."

  Is the abduction of human beings part of "The Project" or something unrelated?
  They are definitely related.

  What's the deal with the killer bees?
  Ya got me. The Conspiracy's evil plans may involve wiping the Earth clean by using smallpox-carrying killer bees. Then they can create their own twisted utopia populated by genetically-engineered clones of humanity.
  Alternatively the Conspiracy may be making back-up copies of humanity in case they need to restock the Earth if the shape-shifting aliens attack us with the "Black Cancer." The killer bees with smallpox may be a weapon for use against the shape-shifting aliens.
  Either way you have to give them points for imagination.

  What is the Black Cancer?
  One recurring alien is the "40-weight Terror From Beyond." This is the oil-slick alien that possesses people and uses intense radiation as a weapon. It appears similar to the "Black Cancer from Tunguska." Except that the "Black Cancer" doesn't possess people. It just kills them. It is unclear if the two creatures are related. The Conspiracy seems terrified of the "Black Cancer" but recently got a vaccine to protect the Earth from it.

  How many aliens are out there?
  Lots. Besides the shape-shifters we have seen other aliens. Examples include Lord Kimbo, the immortal, sex-changing Amish impersonators, and the invisible alien that killed people with intense radiation. They have appeared in only one episode and do not advance the larger plot.

  How many children does Cancer Man have?
  Three. We know he's Fox Mulder's dad. Samantha Mulder (or another clone) claims he's her dad as well. And he's also the father of the FBI agent (the one with the missing mother) who will replace David Duchovny if contract negotiations go bad. (Duchovny stayed on for another season and Cancer Man killed his other son).

Adding to the confusion are the lame investigative skills of Agent Fox Mulder, a total idiot. His motto is "I want to believe" and he lives up to it by believing everything he is told. Any scene where somebody is giving Fox information should be viewed as an attempt to manipulate this witless fool. Fox's gullibility has even turned him into a "skeptic" who ignores the evidence of the last five years because somebody told him there were no aliens.
