CTI   INTRODUCTION

Initially, I was drawn towards CTI for Range testing and optimum location decision  of radio trunking controller for maximum cell range . We were getting numerous complains from customers regarding getting rings on their radios but not being able to acknowledge them. (explained in more details in radio trunking section.)
CTI -   Computer Telephony Integration.     IVRS - Interactive Voice Response System.

To study and test this phenomena,  we used a CTI based solution.
The CTI was basically used for voice mail application in a wireless network. We used to dial the landline hooked to CTI and record the message from various locations. The successful recording or otherwise verified the in/out of range. This finally led to fixing the controller and its antenna at a central point at
site, covering the maximum range benefiting maximum subscribers.

The CTI system  was not discarded after the  establishment of the network. However, We used the CTI based IVRS solution for recording  voice mail for radios, which were currently switched off or out of range. The CTI based IVRS system periodically dialed the intended  subscriber radio and on getting a response, delivered the message.
The CTI section gives more details about this topic.
