Session 2 Tuesday 9 May
Morning: Etruscan-Roman precedents in Fiesole. ATAF Bus 07

Afternoon: Museo Archeologico in Florence (Museum open until early evening)

Session 3 Wednesday 10 May
Urban settings: Piazza de la Signoria, Uffizi Ponte Vecchio.

Visit: Uffizi (emphasis on material in rooms 2, 7, 9, 10-14, 15, 18, and 25.

Session 4 Thursday 11 May
Corbusier in Florence: Visit to the Certosa d'Ema in Galluzzo. Bus 37 ATAF

Palazzi: Palazzo Rucellai and Loggia by Alberti.

Session 5 Friday 12 May
F. Brunelleschi's works and issues on perspective and architecture: visit the dome of the Duomo; Urban stroll from Orsanmichele passsing Ponte Vecchio to Giuseppe Poggi's Piazzale Michelangelo (1865-71) and to San Miniato del Monte (11th C)

Week 2

Session 6 Monday 15 May
Field Trip: Volterra (D.H. Lawrence) and San Gimigniano (precedents for American architect Louis Kahn)

Session 7 Tuesday 16 May
Meeting at CLIDA. Followed byMichelangelo: S. Lorenzo: Laurentian Library; Medici Chapel and Museum.

Session 8 Wednesday 17 May
Field Trip to San Galgano Abbey, Bagno Vignone (A. Tarkovsky's film settings)

Session 9 Thursday 18 May
Gardens and urban space: Piazzi Trinita, Sto. Spirito; Palazzo Pitti (Boboli Gardens) @12:00.

Session 10 Friday 19 May
New ways of seeing - Photography in Florence: Museo di Storia della Fotografia Fratelli Alinari, Largo Alinari, 15: From Mugello to Firenze in the Images of Alinari.

Visit to L'Accademia @ 11:45.

Week 3

Sessions 11-15 Monday, 22 May to 26 May
Partcipants will use this week to develop notebook/diary and explore individually or in groups the city. Consolidation of essays.
