Telling, Asking, Commanding, & Exclaiming Sentences.
- A Telling Sentence tells about something. A period ( . ) is placed at the end of a telling sentence.
Examples:
- Bob likes to fish.
- Dad parks his car.
- The bunny is soft.
- Beth holds the cat.
- An Asking Sentence asks questions. A question mark ( ? ) is placed at the end of an asking sentence.
Examples:
- Where did the cat hide?
- Why are the boys so happy?
- Do you have a pencil?
- Is Ann riding her bike?
- A Commanding Sentence tells you to do something. A period ( . ) comes at the end of a commanding sentence.
Examples:
- Turn off the light.
- Open the door, please.
- Work quietly.
- Ride your bike.
- An Exclaiming Sentence shows surprise or excitement. An exclamation point ( ! ) comes at the end.
Examples:
- What a good time we had!
- How kind the bus driver is!
- What a cute puppy!
- Fall is here!
