Moses Burke was born on March 14, 1841 on Long Fork in Pike County, Kentucky and was the son of Charles and Westina Rice Burk. He was married first to Elvina Hall in 1860. They had eleven children. They were Arilla, Lourena, Nancy, Anza, Mahlon and Cansley (Causley). The other children died in infancy. Elvina died and Moses then married Elizabeth Tackitt on May 5,1897 in Pike Co. Ky. They had eleven children. They were George, Arlie, Enoch, Arlan, Elvina, Charley, Carly, Levanna, Levaster and Mose Jr. One child is unaccounted for and probably died in infancy. Elizabeth died Nov. 18, 1918. Moses then married Betty Mitchell on Jan. 15, 1919. He was a member and an Ordained Deacon of the Old Union Old Regular Baptist Church in Jonancy, Pike County Kentucky. He died on July 1, 1933 in Greenup County, Kentucky and is buried in the church yard of the New Mt. Olivet Old Regular Baptist Church in Greenup County.
