The Justice Brothers and Castle Wooten from Rockcastle Creek

This information comes from Tom Justice, an expert in the genealogy of the Justice/Justus family:

" . . . at least four Justice brothers and their brother-in-law Castle Wooten, members of Co. B, lived on Rock Castle Creek, just below where Rockhouse runs in to Rock Castle Creek. There was another Justice member of Co. B, named William Justice, that I have not, as yet, identified as to family. Jessee, Caleb, George Tom, and Pey were brother to my ggg grandpa Timothy Justice that married Rachel Wooten, sister to Castle Wooten. I was born and raised on Rockhouse Creek on land that has been in the family since the area was first settled. George Justice and wife Martha Baswell lived at the mouth of Big Lick Branch on Rock Castle and were the parents of the above brothers."

Additionally, it should be noted that the Union Justices of Rock Castle were related to the Justuses and Justices of the Knox Creek section of Buchanan County who served, for the most part, with the Confederacy in the 2d Virginia State Line, the 10th Kentucky Cavalry, and some with Bill Smith. If there was any possible instance of brother-fighting-brother (or cousin-fighting-cousin) in the 39th, it may have been at Cynthiana or Saltville against the 10th Kentucky Cavalry.
