Day 2

A Two Hike Day

We took our usual warm up hike on the second day. The trail to Nymph, Dream, Emerald and Haiyaha is less than six miles without much elevation gain. It's a good way to adjust to the altitude and see some beautiful lakes at the same time.

We have pictures of the kids on these roots from the time they (the kids, not the roots) were small.

The next lake up the trail is Dream. A beautiful spot only a little over a mile from the trailhead.

Emerald Lake is the end of this part of the trail. Only a bit more than a mile and a half up the trail.

I took a picture of Flo in this rock crack the first time we hiked this trail in '78. She still fits.

You have to double back to Dream Lake to pick up the Lake Haiyaha Trail. It's about a mile from Dream, with a short steep climb up from Dream Lake.

It was a beautiful afternoon, so Alli and I decided to take an
evening hike to Loch Vale.

Alberta Falls is only a half mile up the trail from the Glacier Gorge Trailhead.

The Loch is an easy 2.7 hike from the trailhead. It's one of the prettiest lakes in the park.

It was our first evening hike and turned out to be very enjoyable.

The trail wasn't crowded, and the cool evening temps made for very comfortable hiking.
