SCIENCE FICTION
It all started earlier this decade by someone trying to annoy me with stories of this new show Star Trek: The Next Generation. I was having none of that, so I listened. Then my brother bought the pilot episode and I was really and truly hooked. I sat for twenty-four hours watching Star Trek to raise money for charity!!
My favorite episodes are:-
I also enjoy the X-Files (any red-blooded female would!) and Doctor Who.
My "passion" for science fiction led me to Nexus '97, a convention hosted by a Bristol contingent of fans. Boy was I glad I went!! I met Colin Baker (the sixth Doctor), Jennifer Hetrick (Vash (ST:TNG & DSN), Mrs Skinner (The X-Files)), the absolutely adorable Jason Carter (Marcus Cole, B5) and the suprise guest Richard Biggs (Dr. Stephen Franklin, B5). It was the perfect way of increasing my autograph quota!
I made it to Nexus '98 as well. This year the guest was Peter Jurasik (Londo Mollari B5). Rik Biggs pulled out due to an audition and impending marriage! Again I've increased the autograph quota!!!
Nexus 2000 was brilliant - Walter Koenig was there, as were Nicholas Courtnay (Lethbridge-Stewart), Paul Darrow (Avon), Jacqualine Pierce (Servelan), Danny John Jules (The Cat)!!
I don't just like science fiction t.v. shows. There's the films as well. Among my favourites are:-
FANTASY
Nothing kinky here! I just love the work of Terry Pratchett. If you haven't picked up one of his books, you really want to go out and buy one NOW!!! I suggest you start at the begining - Colour of Magic (which is octarine, just in case you were wondering!). This book introduces you to the Discworld, a highly magical place that is flat and rides on the back of four elephants, who in turn ride the back of the Great A'Tuin, the star turtle. Confused? Don't be it only gets better! Because there's Death (everyones favorite character), and just in case you don't get it he speak in CAPITAL LETTERS!
If you find sitting down and reading this series of books, this I suggest the video's bought out by Cogrove Hall and Channel 4. Soul Music is a great adaptation, it does have the Pratchett seal of approval, but you may be confused by some of the earlier references, you may need to read Mort first or even after and the watch it all over again! If you remember Elvis, The Beatles or The Rolling Stones the first time around then Soul Music is a riot!!
Also in the fantasy realm is the TV show Buffy The Vampire Slayer starring Sarah Michelle Geller! Oh how I love Vampires and Werewolves, especially Angel and Oz!! Added to this is the Angel series (You gotta love half-demons - especially Doyle!)
