These are some pictures when the engine was out in June 2002

Sorry, this will be slow loading. I promise I'll find the time to make this page more useful, with thumbnails and links and descriptions etc.

These last two shots might answer a few questions I get about how can a a mid engine set-up be achieved with normal IRS suspension. How I have done this is to use a swing-arm spring plate with an IRS hub carrier. The bolt holes match OK. This moves the axle backwards and leaves just enough room for the T1 engine between the transmission and the tortion bar tube. It is then necessary to make the arms a bit longer, and "dog-leg" shape to give clearance under the pushrod tubes and heads. I fabricated this bit using, I think, 2.5" square tube, approx 3.2mm wall, and folded 3.2mm thick steel sheet. It took a few goes to get this right. It works well in this car, mostly because the car is relatively light weight and the low spring rate is not a problem. I admit that if I was doing it again I think I would fabricate a strut or wishbone type suspension because this would be easier to adjust for spring rate, alignment, camber, track etc. However, this would need a more sophisticated chassis, so there are benefits both ways. Cheers, Brian
