On May 2, 2000, I set out with a group of 10 guys to climb to the foot of
the highest peak on the planet, Mount Everest (29,028' - 8848m). The
grueling adventure took place over three weeks and was the most physically
and mentally demanding activity I have ever undertaken. The trip was
organized by Canadian
Himalayan Expeditions.
Our goal was, of course, to reach Everest Base Camp (17,600'), however,
that would not be our highest elevation attained. That would be the
climbing of Kala Patar at 18,500'.
