MATHEW WING (1)
Born sometime between 1548 and 1550, died Banbury, Oxfordshire,
England, buried 19 Oct 1614, St. Marys Church, Banbury. Married MARY _____,
died Banbury, buried 24 July 1613, St Marys Church, Banbury. Mathew was a
tailor and lived not far from the Reindeer Inn which was still in business

Rev. John's father was Matthew Wynge b. 1548 Liege, Belgium.
Matthew was of Banbury, Oxfordshire, England. From about 1560 he is
known as a tailor, by trade. His will is dated Aug 11, 1614; proved Nov
15, 1614. It is probable that Matthew was dependent upon himself by
reason of persecution of and confiscations of his father's property. He
desired to be buried in the churchyard in Banbury, where he resided.

Bachiler was a Puritan, was removed from his pastorate in 1605 for "making
slanderous remarks" [article, Owl pp 4535-4540]. He founded the town of Hampton
NH. After 4 wives he returned to Eng about 1680. [Fall 1984 Owl].
