The third annual Thanksgiving Day dinner was held in St. Mary's. The local hotel's restaurant was closed for dinner and offered the use of their dining room and bar. Townspeople provided turkeys (baked, smoked, and deep-fried) while cruisers brought side dishes and desserts. About 40 boats brought way too much food and everyone was thoroughly satisfied. Before and after Thanksgiving Day, several locals left their vehicles at the dock for use by any cruiser who wanted to go shopping, fill propane tanks, or run any other errand. This is an incredibly friendly and helpful cruising town. As fall approaches, people along the IICW start asking each other, "Are you going to St. Marys for Thanksgiving?"
