Values In Society
May 24, 1998

All people must make a decision. Will they support the cause they believe in, or rather sit on the fence and not make a decision. In the 1990's, we are facing a major dilemma. On one hand holding on to what is important, and on the other letting go and embracing a new order.

A New order that is not based on values, but rather on perception. What your parents valued in 1940 does not have a value in 1998. Isn't that strange? How is that? Let's take a good look at a few pointers:

1. President Clinton believes in The Day of the Child, while signing that same day, the veto that keeps Partial-Birth Abortion alive. In one statement he praises that children should be given a life, while denying the same people life.

2. Dr. Jack Kevorkian walks around Scott-free willing to kill people for a small fee. All because Michigan doesn't have an assisted-suicide law. Oregon passed a bill, last November, allowing assisted-suicide to continue.

3. Bill Clinton's "rationalized" health care would send millions of elderly and disadvantaged to their graves due to cost.

4. 5,000,000 unborn babies are killed each year because of Roe vs. Wade. Most of these babies are healthy and could have adopted. Instead, these women are not given the facts to alternative methods.

5. HMO have become moneymakers and profiteers, while denying us the basic care and tests that we want.

6. Gun companies now target children. Sure, Johnny can kill, but can he figure 2+2=4? I don't think so!

7. Speaking of education, outcome based education is really the pits. You can't ahead if you're in a class of utter losers and slowpokes.

As you can see, this is really a small part of a bigger picture. What America is facing is nothing short of a disaster. There are no morals, no right or wrongs.

It reminds me of a movie I saw on TV called Brave New World. The idea was that everyone felt happy, buying was better than repairing, and that sadness is an illusion. Sort of where this country is headed. There is no guilt in doing something wrong anymore, and you can't go to jail if your title is President of the United States.

Come on people, are you deaf? It's all a con game, and you are the poor fools. There is not one thing that makes us feel guilty anymore. If everyone wants to be politically correct, there is no moral standard to base anything on.

But there is such a thing to base morals on. It called the Holy Bible. It has stood the test of time. It should be the bases on which we build our lives, our families and our country.

Most of us will go through life thinking that we are good Christians. We attend mass, give generously, obey the laws, etc. but will not be able to go to heaven due to one fact.

That is, we never had a personal relationship with God. God gives you all you need to live, to grow as a Christian.
If you want to know what is right for you, turn to Him.

Until next time.
