In the beginning, mankind was searching for an answer, the question was: are we alone in the universe?
You could say that scientists have been searching for the same results, but have come to no definite conclusion. The reason is we have no definitive answer but the Bible. In it God tells his people how to live, socialize, pray and give Thanksgiving to our creator. Yet recent history has show shown us that we are not in control of this universe. The reasons are various and highly unpredictable.
1) The recent floods, earthquakes and other natural disasters are far beyond the human understanding.
2) The recent films like Deep Impact and Armageddon have made us wonder when and how the world will end.
3) There is also a growing tread trend in our culture about the year 2000. People are wondering if major computer crashes who occur if the Y2K bug is not fixed. There are rumors of blackouts and brownouts due to this problem. (In the end, nothing major happened.)
4) Many cults and other media experts predict catastrophes and biblical signs to occur within the next year and a half.
As you can see, we can feel completely helpless and yet amazed by the limitations of our technology. If mankind were to solve all of his problems, where would he turn to for help? It sometimes makes you wonder how things are ever accomplished.
Yet, as limited as it may seem, look at the advances in science and medicine. Now we have cures for ED, joints and eventually AIDS.
But mankind, on his own, can't solve all of his problems. The weight of evidence begins to point that mankind is totally ineffective when it comes to the basic problems of life.
In one part of the world there is greed and runaway debt, and in the other, poverty, despair and death.
In any given day, there is war and strife all over the globe. In Sierra Leone there is war. In Israel there is constant battles between Israel and Palestine. Most of the problems can be traced to a people who have no economic prosperity, and where jobs are scarce. If only we spend more money and attention on this problem will it go away.
Unfortunately, this does not work. For all that we can do will not serve to eliminate the root of the problem. That is the wickedness of man's heart.
The US has only a $1 million budget for all the near Earth collision detection. Yet it spends billions on weapons of mass destruction. Now with biological weapons, any government or terrorist can control a particular group of people.
Major governments throughout the world or ruled by hard-line dictators or the government is in ruins.
Many world leaders can live in luxury while their citizens live in filth and poverty. Is this the way to treat our fellow man? Obviously not.
Governments can throw millions of dollars into research, but can not solve all of our problems.
That's why we need God. Only He can solve our problems and put our lives on the right track. But until that great day, we will struggle to understand how we live in a frail existence.
God will chance our hearts of stone to hearts of love and compassion.
How will it end? It was a tagline from the movie The Truman Show. Even secularists and biblical scholars debate this today. Only one this is certain, it will end when God allows it. Nothing happens today without God's knowledge. For God is not an observer, but actively involved with putting all the finishing touches together.
Jesus Christ will return one day to establish His father's reign on Earth. All knees will bow and all tongues proclaim that he is Lord. Are you ready?
Until next time.
