Holiday Homecoming
March 21, 1999
The winter winds ripped at Peter's face as he exited the car and walked up the driveway of one Antonio Romero. Christmas was in the air, and it could be seen all over town, especially here in Nashville, TN.
As for Peter, he felt nothing at all. Not even joy. There was so much more work to be completed today, and this meeting was not going to do anything, or so he thought.
The lights and garland decorated the old place where Antonio had called home for the past few years.
Peter sifted his weight around to keep the cold off him. The old leather jacket had seen better days. He rang the doorbell and waited for someone to open it. He heard the laughter of children down the street. They were out of school for 2 whole weeks.
"Come on already." Peter said and could hear Antonio fidgeting with the locks. Here he was, one of Nashville's most powerful agent, and there was no work today.
The door opened and a powerful whiff on fern tree and Christmas all in one. Peter was knocked off his feet by such a powerful aroma.
The place was decorated much the same. The fireplace was lite with logs on the fire, a Christmas tree with ornaments in the den. The smell of home cooked meals lingering from the kitchen.
"Boy, what are you cooking?" Peter said, taking off his jacket.
Antonio looked with astonishment. "Why it's the Christmas dinner?"
"Aren't you a few days early?" Peter tried to make sense of it, but usually was of no avail.
