The Dream Weaver (The Beginning)
December 19, 2001
There would no turning back. All the decisions had been made and needed to be carried out. Kero looked at his watch.
Kero could be no ordinary creator, for this was the Dreamweaver, and her name was Audrey. He hoped to become King one day.
The time was about noon. The ship would be here any minute. This would be no ordinary ship, but rather one used to carry prisoners to their final destination. A forbidden and awful planet called Literofuss.
Along with its crew of five, there would be three other passengers along for the journey. Colonel Sharp, Major Tom Grimes and Private Joe Hanson. The reasons for them going along were as numerous as to how wars get started in the first place. Maybe they wanted a piece of history, or rather to understand the machine.
They had heard many such stories of how it worked, but they needed to see it for themselves.
A loud clank from the doors and a siren call announced the arrival of USS Geneha. The space station breathed life with it's many human and alien life forms that traveled here. For some it was a break from work, for others much needed repair for ships and for themselves.
Kero noticed that one such person who was scheduled to go to Literofuss was John Tyler. He became famous for the prison uprising on Tekaron a few years back. He drew attention to the improvised condition of the mine workers and caused an uproar.
But his plans backfired and wound up killing a guard along the way. They (the Council) sentenced him to death. No, but normal means but on Literofuss.
The musty odors from the decks below welcomed Kero and his companion for the last three years, Holly. She has a gift for understanding the Dreamweaver and of Kero. Her light hair, flowing shoulder length, had give him reassurance. She worked with him not because of the machine, but as a means to further the relationship between the two races.
The USS Geneha looked like it been to war and then some. The metallic paint had rusted through from too many fights abroad, or that it was overworked and neglected to be cared for.
The hallways of this vessel were painted in a dark blue or beige, but all he could tell was that it lacked color.
" Attention." The Sargent yelled at his comrades as they entered the ship.
All three men stood upright. "At ease, soldiers." The men relaxed and gently walked over.
"I'm Colonel Sharp, and these men will be your companions." He shook hands with Kero, an always awkward position with an alien race. He looked at Grimes and nodded. Colonel Sharp looked to be a man in his 40s with a few Grey hairs sticking out. His broad shoulders and beard gave him a face any man would fear.
"Nice to meet ya sir. I'm Major Grimes and this here is Pvt. Hanson." Major Grimes was a stocky mid 30s who looked like he was no longer the active duty guy his photo said he was.
Hanson looked down as if a bug was crawling on the floor. He looked up and saw Kero. "Damn, I can't believe its a damn Tageron. What the fuck are you going to do to us?"
The Sargent snapped and grinned his teeth. "Sir, I think you should be a little bit more respectful to our comrade."
The private looked down and said, "Sorry sir, but with the war going on..."
"That is enough private." Pvt. Hanson, on the other hand, was a skinny kid no more than a recent grad and a bad ass attitude.
The Sargent turned to look at Holly. "Well nice to meet you. I heard some great stories about your battles. I guess you have to tell me them sometime."
"I guess I will." Holly turned and nodded to Kero. He went off to fetch the computer and get it set up.
"Your Majesty," the Sargent replied running after Kero. Kero turned around and picked up Audrey and meet the Sargent. "I'm sorry about Joe. He's just not himself lately. Must be homesick." The Sargent stretched out his hand to reassure him. "Don't take it personally."
Kero closed his eyes and paused. Once reopened, he said, "Ah, I'm used to it. But I don't like it."
