Even after Sharon's Death, The Legion of Doom was a group to be feared. Many people wished the group would just disappear. Yet the group grew in numbers every year. It seemed that its secret mission was against religion. Many of the Mesmolites' youth did not like this new wave thinking invading their world. They thought it as a enemy. God had no place in their society. Often they used violence as a way of getting their point across.
One such occasion was in the town of Methal. A group of Catholics were on their way to their camping ground when they ran into a few members from the Doom. One of the members called the Catholic a SMF. The Catholic guy didn't like that comment and hit the Doom guy. All of a sudden a fight began. The storeowner and one of the people in the store broke up the fight. The Doom promised they would get even with them. Within 48 hrs, the group of Catholics was about to return home from camp, when the Doom gang caught up with them. First they chased the bus, and then rammed into it. Once the bus got away from the ramming car, a jeep approached them from the opposite direction. One member stood up in the oncoming jeep and fired a missile at it. The bus exploded upon impact, all 25 members were killed.
It was not the only incident that ever occurred. Other times the violence was directed at churches and religious organizations. The violence increased steadily and the police were powerless to stop them.
Capt. Lou Jordan, with the Mesmolite Police Battalion, often thought of the Doom as punks who hadn't learned their lessons well. He tried to build a case against Jonathan Sparks and his gang. Often his investigations led him to dead ends. The group was so crafted at the art of deception. They used graphical images of deception, with the church pulling the strings on a puppet. The puppet represented the Mesmolite people. Jordan wanted to stop the group, but didn't know how.
The LOD leader, Frank Johnson, saw his people being reduced to servants. How many times had he wished that the visitors had never arrived. He saw the church manipulated the people into [the church's] mind frame. All Johnson wanted to do was to make religion go away, or at least slow it down. It seemed that the more he pushed, the harder the church was working against him. Frank agrees to met with his opponents at the nearby mall to settle things out. Instead, fate would deal him an evil hand.
