As stated earlier, there were a few things that I was very unsure of when first taking delivery of my car, these being the Tailpipe on the exhaust and the Gold Wheels.
THE EXHAUST
Well after doing a fair amount of research on the Kakimoto Racing Exhaust and realising that it was one of the most expensive aftermarket exhausts for the MR2, I decided to modify the tailpipe instead of replacing it. The Question was .........How?????
Anyway I went to a local Exhaust Builder called "Exhausts by Design" and met the owner "Graham". He is a top guy and basically works out of a barn making stainless exhausts for both Race cars and road cars. While I was there he was building an exhaust for a 911 Turbo race car that sounded phenomenal. I outlined what I wanted doing and left it with him to do. On my return I found exactly what I wanted......... instead of a single 5.5" Tailpipe, I now had the much more subtle twin 3" Tailpipes. A stop gap till Graham builds me a full system in the future...................(TO BE CONTINUED)
THE WHEELS
After being undecided for nearly a year I finally chose to replace the wheels early in 2000. As anyone will know who has looked at replacing wheels on the MR2, trying to find the correct offsets and varying wheel widths is a total nightmare. After many weeks of research I finally found what I was looking for in the BBS RK Polished. I had found a buyer for the Racing Sparco items in a fellow IMOC member and therefore went about ordering the new items.
Through "BBS Direct", I managed to get 7x17" Fronts and specially machined Mercedes 8x17" Rears which offered me my required offsets.
SO NOW I WAS HAPPY WITH THE LOOKS........................IT WAS TIME FOR PERFORMANCE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
