Dirt

Rating (1-10): 8.5
My friend told me to get this cd a few months ago because it was that good. He wasn't lying. Of all the albums by the Seattle grunge bands (Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana), this album is my favorite (excpet of course for "Nevermind"). However, this album does what the listener wants it to do; rock. This album lashes out at society from the beginning and doesn't stop until the last note. I highly recommend this cd. The good songs on this cd include; "'Dem Bones", "Would?", "Godsmack", and, of course, "Rooster".

Jar of Flies

Rating (1-10): 7
This album doesn't have quite the same quality as the first one. It is an EP with 7 tracks that are decent. This is one of the first cds I ever bought when I got into rock back in 7th grade and it has been with me ever since. I recommend this album because it came out right when grunge was at its best and continued to highlight all the good qualities of Seattle grunge music; namely, hard riffs, loud vocals, and a distinct drum beat while combined with somewhat of a folk music theme. It is difficult to explain so imagine Willie Nelson and Nirvana jamming together and you get Jar of Flies. Highlights: "No Excuses", "I Stay Away", and "Nutshell".

Alice in Chains

Rating (1-10): 8
The final studio record from Alice in Chains continued right where Dirt and Facelift started. This self-titled record has nothing special about it except for the fact that the songs sound like they are better written. "Heaven Beside You", "Again", and "Over Now" are all good songs, but my favorite song on this cd, and my favorite song by Alice in Chains all together is "Grind".
