Pyromania
Rating (1-10): 8
Ahhh, glam-rock. Where would we be without it? Probably the same place we are right now. True, most glam-rock, 80's hair bands suck, but Def Leppard doesn't. Their music differs in the fact that the music centers more around the guitar riffs and beats than the vocals and the image of the band. True, Def Leppard wore their fair share of make-up and bad hair-dos but that doesn't reflect their music. Pyromania is a classic album and many of the songs still get air play on radio stations today. Songs like "Photograph", "Foolin", "Rock of Ages", and "Stagefreight" not only appear on radio frequently but are well known by a lot of rock and roll fans, truly making Def Leppard a band that won't go away.
Hysteria
Rating (1-10): 9
This is Def Leppard's best cd. Although the songs on this album aren't as recognizable, they are better. However, Hysteria songs are still played on the radio a lot like most Def Leppard stuff. It should be noted that on this album and on Euphoria, the drummer only had one arm to play with. Actually, if you listen to the drums, you can tell that the guy only has one arm, but he still does a phenomenal job by adding an extra foot pedal or two (I'm not sure). Anyway, get this record if you are really into glam rock. This record also was the last one that guitar legend Steve Clark on it before he killed himself with drugs and alcohol. This album doesn't sound like Poison, The Scorpions, or Twisted Sister or anything, but it is still classified as glam rock and it still rules. Songs like "Women", "Rocket", "Pour Some Sugar on Me", "Animal", and "Armageddon It" (which is one of my all time favorite songs) are cool to listen to.
Euphoria
Rating (1-10): 6.5
This album was a let-down. Def Leppard's attempt to combine 80's glam-rock with modern alternative music was a failure to say the least. This album proved that there is a time and a place for every type of music. Def Leppard's period was the 80's. Oh well.......it happens to the best of us. "Promises" is an ok song.
