Kill Em All
Rating (1-10): 9
This album introduced Metallica to the world. Since the release of this album in 1983 all the way to the present, Metallica has rocked the metal world more then any other band with the exception of Sabbath. Kill Em All is considered the first of four classic Metallica albums that are must-have for any metal fan. I couldn't agree more. Although Kill Em All sounds like a rookie record, it's still great. For a first CD, Metallica uses all their mastry in music writing. The songs are at full throttle and are furious with not much else to think about. Check out "Hit the Lights", "Four Horsemen", "Jump in the Fire", "Metal Militia", and "Seek and Destroy" for starters then catch the rest of the album for full enjoyment.
Ride the Lightning
Rating (1-10): 9.5
The sophomore effort certainly doesn't dissapoint! What a combination of dark, heavy beats, mind-bending vocals, and of course, Kirk Hammet's amazing guitarmanship (is that a word?). This album leaves you gasping for breath and foaming at the mouth, begging for more Metallica! Check out "Fight Fire with Fire", "Ride the Lightning", "For Whom the Bell Tolls", "Fade to Black", and "Creeping Death".
Master of Puppets

BRIAN'S TOP 10 CDS OF ALL TIME! (#1)
Yes, there is no rating for this cd because no number is high enough to do it justice. Yes, kiddies, Master of Puppets is the greatest cd ever recorded and if you don't own it, please smack yourself in the nads.........ok now that you are in excrutiating pain, I suggest you go buy this record so you don't appear to be more of an ass. Anyways, if you want a review of this record it's simple. Take every record you have ever tought was really good, crumple them together and multiply by about 1,000 and you have Master of Puppets. Here are the highlights: "Battery" is my favorite fast-song ever, "Master of Puppets", "The Thing that Should Not Be", "Welcome Home", "Disposable Heroes", "Leper Messiah", "Damage, Inc.", and "Orion" all rule as well.......of course, that names every song, but what can I say? Go now and buy this cd!
...And Justice for All
Rating (1-10): 10
BRIAN'S TOP 10 CDS OF ALL TIME! (#6)
There is no way that Metallica could top Master of Puppets, but they came damn close. This cd kick ass much like all of the Metallica CDs released up to this point. This is also the last of the four classic Metallica releases as from here on out Bob Rock would play a great role in the production of the Metallica cds. This album also introduces Jason Newstead as the new bassist due to the tragic death of Cliff Burton in a bus accident. Much like the previous Metallica cds, this album follows a theme (Lightning focused on death and Puppets focused on the destruction of humans). The theme for Justice is the crooked system of justice that we live in today and how it effects everybody. Although not every song follows this theme most do. Check out "Blackened" which has the best guitar solo I have ever heard, "...And Justice for All", "One", "Harvester of Sorrow", "The Shortest Straw", "The Frayed Ends of Sanity", and "Dyer's Eve". This CD also has a tribute song to Cliff Burton called "To Live is to Die".
Metallica
Rating (1-10): 8
This album was a slight change for Metallica. The songs are shorter and less drawn out but still rock. This cd also brought Metallica to the main stream. Although "One" was the first video of Metallica's played on MTV, songs like "Enter Sandman", "Sad But True", "Wherever I May Roam", "Nothing Else Matters", and "Unforgiven" truly made Metallica recognizable with fans who previously ignored them. Also, you may be thinking that there is no album cover above, but there is. You see, this album is also been called "The Black Album" because of its all black cover except for a small silver snake in the bottom left-hand corner, but I can't really see it in that picture. "Through the Never" is my personal favorite song on this cd and "The God that Failed" is cool, too.
Load
Rating (1-10): 7.5
Ok Ok, a lot of people don't like the new Metallica, but I really don't have a problem with this cd. It's got good songs and doesn't dissapoint this true Metallica fan. Don't get me wrong, this album sounds nothing like the classics as it is more hard rock then heavy metal. Still, I recommend it. "Ain't My Bitch", "Poor Twisted Me", "King Nothing", and "Hero of the Day" are all good songs.
Reload
Rating (1-10): 6.5
Ok, so now they aren't that good. I'm not really gonna go too far in depth cuz this album was a dissapointment to all. "Fuel" is an ok song and "The Memory Remains" is ok.
Garage, Inc.
Rating (1-10): 9
This was a welcome change for the old-school Metal-Heads. The songs are all covers which rock. Lynard Skynad's "Whisky in the Jar" is a favorite of mine as well as a cover of "Sabbra Cadabra", my favorite Black Sabbath song. "Green Hell" is also cool. Get this cd if you want to get a glimpse into what bands influenced the greatest band of all time.
S & M
Rating (1-10): 8.5
I don't usually review live albums, but this one is special. S and M is live Metallica with the accompaniment of the San Francisco Orchestra. Now, it was hard for me to comprehend such a weird combination, but after listening to the record it is not that bad as many of the slower Metallica songs are fit for orchestra accompaniment. Also some of the faster songs are cool. Still I think "Battery" should have been omitted as well as "Enter Sandman". "One", "For Whom the Bell Tolls", and "Hero of the Day" are all good tracks.
