Bleach

Rating (1-10): 8
A lot of people think that Nirvana's music is simple and easy to play. Well........it sure is, especially in this album. Back in the day (like 1995) I was able to listen to these songs a few times and then be able to play them. Still, what makes this album good is its originality. The grunge era was just starting in 1989 when this cd came out and Nirvana was a catalyst of this. Although Nevermind, their next release would spark the grunge movement out of Seattle even more, it's important to know that this was their first cd and this cd technically started the grunge revolution. Check out "Blew", "Floyd the Barber", "About a Girl", "School", and "Negative Creep".

Nevermind

Rating (1-10): 9
This album changed more in the history of rock and roll then any other album...period. This album is so simple and yet teens loved it. Why? The simplicity of course. The kids of the early 90's loved Kurt Cobain's genuine anger at the world and the simplicity with which he conveyed it. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is possibly the most recognizable song ever and this record truly made grunge music an institution. "In Bloom", "Come As You Are", and "Lithium" are all recognizable on the radio today and "Polly", "Territorial Pissings", and "On a Plane" are all good songs.

Incesticide

Rating (1-10): 7
Incesticide is a mix of B-Sides and rare singles that were originally supposed to go on Bleach and Nevermind but never made the cut. I guess that's why this cd isn't as good as the first two. Although there are parts of it that are good (namely the last four tracks), most of the songs are 1 minute or 2 minutes of repeated riffs with Kurt screaming, very un-Nirvanaish seeing as how Nirvana had made a name for themself as being a relatively mature band (they only started a friggin' music genre). The last four songs are truly grunge; "Hairspray Queen", "Aero Zeppelin", "Big Long Now", and "Aneurysm". "Beeswax" is an interesting song and "Dive" is ok.

In Utero

Rating (1-10): 9.5
((gasp!)) Yeah, this album gets a better rating then Nevermind, because I like it better and enjoy listening to it more. The final Nirvana studio record picks up where Bleach left off back in 1989. True In Utero returns Nirvana to their roots beacuse of the fact that Nevermind was more about a message. In Utero, much like Bleach, lashes out from the beginning and just rocks. Turn this record up when you listen to tunes like "Serve the Servants", "Senceless Apprentice", "Heart Shaped Box", "Rape Me", "Francis Farmer", "Dumb", "Milk It", and "tourettes".
