Cowboys From Hell

Rating (1-10): 8
This album doesn't sound like most of the other Pantera records. While the other records are thrashy with heavy metal, this album combines plain old rock and roll with thrash. This doesn't make for to appealing of a combo but it still rocks. This was the last Pantera cd I bought but it is their first big release, which surprised me cuz I am used to the music from their more recent albums. "Cowboys From Hell", "Cemetary Gates", "Primal Concrete Sledge", and "Domination" are all good songs.

Vulgar Display of Power

BRIAN'S TOP 10 CDS OF ALL TIME! (#3)

This album is unlike any type of music I have ever heard. The fast, furious, hellish rhythms make for quite a good album that starts and doesn't stop for anything. Phil lashes out at everything and Dimebag explodes with his powerful guitar playing. Vinny and Rex add beats. All these combined make for the third best album ever. Check out songs like "Mouth for War", "A New Level", "Walk", "Fucking Hostile", and "Rise" which is my favorite Pantera song.

Far Beyond Driven

Rating (1-10): 9
Pantera never was mainstream, they never got played on MTV, and they will never get the complete recognition they deserve. However, much of Pantera's fan base came out of this record. Far Beyond Driven was actually on display at some old record store near my house around the time it came out. I listened to it on one of those head-phone things and it made me quite confused. I didn't appreciate Pantera's music like I do now. However, this was my first exposure to Pantera and thus lives in infamy. Anyways, about the album, it's much like the Pantera of today, no excuses and no remorse. They just fucking play......loud and fast, and if you get a message from it fine. If not, I don't think Phil will lose any sleep. Check out "Strength Beyond Strength", "Becoming", "Five Minutes Alone", and a cool cover of "Planet Caravan". "Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills" is interesting.......

The Great Southern Trendkill

Rating (1-10): 8
This is where Pantera tried to relay a message, and I think the music suffered for it. This is a great cd, but it's not one of Pantera's best. Still, the message about shunning trends and sticking to your beliefs was a welcome sign to kids who needed some sort of guidance. "The Great Southern Trendkill", "10s", "Drag the Waters", "War Nerve" and both "Suicide Notes" are cool.

Reinventing the Steel

Rating (1-10): 9.5
This is Panter'a second best record and also the most anticipated release from them. This was their first studio record since 1996 and didn't let any of their fans down. It is hard and loud and pleases the ears of all metal-heads. Go pick up this record and support a great cause: Pan-Fucking-Tera!!! "Hellbound", "Revolution is My Name", "Uplift", "I'll Cast a Shadow", and "Death Rattle" are all cool songs and "Goddamn Electric" is an awesome track featuring Kerry King from Slayer.
