Soulfly
Rating (1-10): 8.5
Here's a little something for all you hippies out there that really love metal at heart. Following Max Cavalero's departure from Sepultura (reviews on that band to be posted lata), he sought out a new band focusing on peace, love, and happy.....well, maybe not happiness. Although Sepultura is a better band overall, this album has a lot of great points. The rhythmic guitars and bongos make a tribal sound combined with heavy metal beats for a unique tune. This album leaves a little to be desired as it is not interesting and tends to be repetitive at times. Check out "Eye for an Eye" on this one, which is a great track. It should also be noted that although "Eye for an Eye" is Soulfly's best song in most people's opinion, they refuse to play it live!!!
Primitive
Rating (1-10): 8.5
Great followup to the debut, "Primitive" is a better release with much more emphasis on the quality of the music rather than the messgae. Although this record doesn't have a song as good as "Eye for an Eye", it's better overall. "Boom", "Jump da Fuck Up", and "Terrorist" are all tracks to check out.
