CRICKET
DREAM TEAM
In this page I have made out my all-time dream cricket.  Its just something us boys like to do.  In my selections I have cosidered different eras, personalities and have picked not the players I believe to be the best but the team put together that would perform be the best.  My selections are purely personal but come on it would take some team to even compete with this lot.

1.  G Boycott:-  I've so much repect for this man both as a person and as a batsman.  What has been forgotton amidst all the controversy is that he averaged over 47, played for many years at the top and I don't think anybody could occupy the crease like him, a pure frustration to bowl at.  His peak I would say was when he went to Australia and averaged over 90.  He was a real sticker and would provide the platform at the other end in my team for the more extravagant stroke makers.

2.  D Bradman:-  what can I say other than he was the greatest batsman of them all.  Sir Don would captain my side as he led by example, had a good cricket brain and played the beautiful game the way it ought to be played.

3.  J Hobbs:-  Jack was quite a batsman, a real natural and rated by many as the finest stroke maker of them all.

4.  V Richards:-  Viv was a brutal batsman who took the concept of hitting bowlers all around the park to new levels.

5.  S Waugh:-  Steve is just so tough and if the upper order fails he is usually there to repair the damage, it's a case of cometh the hour cometh the man.  Hes a real champion and top captain so he would have the honour of being vice-captain to the Don in my team.

6.  G Sobers:-  Without doupt the best all-rounder of all time.  A destructive batsman and gem of a bowler.

7.  A Gilchrist:-  Adam is scary with the bat, he hits the ball real hard and can take the game away from you in a flash.  He's not the best wicket-keeper of all-time but as an all-rouder he is more than worth the selection.

8.  D Gough:-  Goughies my favourite player, an absolute joy to watch and would do a lot for my teams moral although there have been many greater fast bowlers (Holding, Marshall, Gardner, Lillee, Hadlee, I Khan, S Barnes, A Bedser etc.) it is my team and with the standard of the other bowlers in my team there no reason why I shouldn't pick the Dazzler.

9.  F Trueman:-  Fiery was a mean quick bowler who took wickets by the shed-load.  A truely magnificant fast bowler who I wouldn't fancy facing from 44 yards never mind 22.

10.  C Ambrose:-  Courtly was a giant who bowled fast and was very intimidating and had unbelievable accuracy.  In his pomp he was close to unplayable, at the start of his run up he would put the fear of God into most people.

11.  M Muralitharan:-  If his action is legal as they say well then Murali is a class act.  He can bowl all day, turn the ball it seems square on any surface and he takes bucket loads of wickets.  I like his character, he plays his cricket with a real warming smile.  (I realise I've overlooked many top-notch spinners like Warne, Laker, Underwood, Quadir, Beneud but the fact that Murali spins the ball on any surface and plays with that smile meant I couldn't resist).

Ok, I've had to leave out many greats but doing this has seen me exploring through cricket history which in turn has reinforced my love for the game.
