Like any vampire films? If you don't, I'm sure you must have seen at least one movie about vampires. A personal favorite of mine is the movie "Blade." I fancy the movie not really because of the vampires but actually more for the action in it.
Why are we talking about vampire films? Why are we talking about vampires at all? Well, I figured it would help us out with an illustration about what happens when a person is really born again in Christ.
In almost every vampire movie I've seen there remains one constant. Right after the victim gets bitten, that person begins to change into a vampire him/herself.
Gradually the victim begins to feel a thirst that no normal drink can quench. Sunlight begins to feel extremely irritating and painful. Senses become magnified and to a great extent even muscular strength. The victim soon realizes that he/she now has special powers and to a certain degree immortality. Behold, the victim has now been reborn into a new creature. A creature that would now stalk the night looking for someone else to bring into this new life of darkness.
All this change in nature came about not by the victims own will and initiative. It all began from that encounter with the source when the connection and transfer was made. From that point on the virus or curse began to spread and the change in nature was impossible to ignore.
The mistake that I found myself often making earlier in my ministry was this habit of not giving the Holy Spirit the space to do His nature changing work effected by the grace of God through the faith of the new believer in Christ Jesus. To put that long piece simply. There are things that I shouldn't be doing anymore in the place of the Holy Spirit. I am not the Holy Spirit. And the work that only the Holy Spirit can do, I shouldn't and could never possibly do. I had to learn that the hard way.
See friend, if a person truly believes and is born again in Christ Jesus then every change in that believer will naturally and gradually flow according to His will without having to be told by someone else. Meaning, that if you are truly born again in Christ Jesus you will naturally long for His word, His presence, prayer and worship unto His name, fellowship and service along with the people of God. These changes will not all come at once or abruptly, however, they will come from glory to glory as a result of Gods' response to the genuine faith that He sees in your heart. Seeing from above that after hearing the message of the Gospel, in your heart you truly believed. God will send His gift upon you. He promised and He will do it and accomplish it in His perfect time.
The Bible tells us, For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus... (Ephesians 2:10). God does the work by the power of His Holy Spirit. The Almighty promises in His Word,
"Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them."
(Ezekiel 36:25-27)
He will sprinkle. He will cleanse. He will renew. It is His workmanship. We are His workmanship. The only question is whether or not our faith is genuine in His eyes. How will we know? Well, Jesus our Lord simply says, "by the fruits you will know."
There are no fakes in the Kingdom of God in spite of the fact that alot of fakes are seen in churches today. It's not a surprise. The Bible has spoken of all that already since long ago.
They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him... - Titus 1:16
...having a form of godliness but denying its power. - 2Timothy 3:5
The good news is that,
"The Lord knows who are His," - 2Timothy 2:19
The people that we are talking about in this article are those who claim to truly have faith in their hearts in Christ Jesus and not those who are still debating in their minds whether or not they should. There is freedom of choice.
The point?
Genuine faith does not need to be dragged into a Bible study. Genuine faith does not need to be forced to pray. Genuine faith will know how to worship in truth and in the Holy Spirit and will even learn more about it in time. Genuine faith will naturally and gradually depart from sin and live a life of obedience towards God. Genuine faith will not dwell in darkness for long.
So friend, it is not proper at all for us to force people to do the things which you see above if they truly don't want to have any part with it. We must learn, however, to respect that choice and more than that we must learn to trust in Gods workmanship. What we can do is to just allow God to continue to work through us in reaching out to other people and be edifying in every way we can. God bless you.
The Lord be praised for His work, now and forevermore. Amen.
