Bring Me Home With You No.4
Spiritual Reminders by Bro. Paul Sia
Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe's household that there are contentions among you. Now I say this, that each of you says, "I am of Paul," or "I am of Apollos," or "I am of Cephas," or "I am of Christ." Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
- 1Corinthians 1:10-13(NKJV)

Unity is a great thing. There's nothing like it when people come together for a common cause and work hand-in-hand. Unity is exactly what we need now in the world that we live in. Unity is what should always be present in our churches.

However, unity, like all the many good words that end with "ty" like "honesty" and "purity" is very difficult to find nowadays. (understatement)

There's such a high demand for it that in different countries worldwide we see people rallying in the streets--crying out for U N I T Y!

In chapter one of Paul's letter to the church at Corinth we find the diligent apostle crying out and pleading for the same thing. That's right. Even the very first churches set-up by the Lord's apostles long ago experienced disagreements here and there just like we are today. It's one thing to have disagreements among nations of the world. Imagine having that type of chaos in the church of God where fellowship and love are supposed to be as abundant and constant as the air we breathe.

Why do problems like this arise in the church? When do they begin to build up and overwhelm all the love that the Lord has established in the hearts of his people?

Well, it's when we take our eyes off the real Master and misplace our loyalties. It's when we slowly remove our focus from our Lord Jesus Christ and place it on others who did not die for us on the cross. It's when we begin to give more of our attention to people and their philosophies and forget that Jesus Christ alone is the Lord of our lives. We forget that He alone has absolute authority.

Friends, let's us be one in this:

Jesus Christ alone is Lord!
Our loyalty belongs to Him alone.
