Creativity Check
By Bro. Paul Sia

"Cry aloud, spare not; Lift up your voice like a trumpet; Tell My people their transgression, And the house of Jacob their sins." - Isaiah 58:1 (NKJV)

There are so many ways to deliver a message. In the same way, there are numerous and creative ways to preach and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to other people. Different methods, but with only one goal in mind, and that is to get the message across in the most effective way possible.

Developing different methods of evangelism is not at all prohibited by God. Even the Lord Himself commanded His prophets of long ago to present His Word in so many colorful ways. A good account of this can be found in the Book of Ezekiel.

"You also, son of man, take a clay tablet and lay it before you, and portray on it a city, Jerusalem." - Ezekiel 4:1 (NKJV)

"Therefore, son of man, prepare your belongings for captivity, and go into captivity by day in their sight. You shall go from your place into captivity to another place in their sight. It may be that they will consider, though they are a rebellious house." - Ezekiel 12:3 (NKJV)

If you would take the time to read carefully these chapters, you will find dramatic visual presentations expressing God's Word to all who care to stop and consider. The reason for creativity in this case is to draw the attention of a passive crowd of people who don't give a care in the world about God.

To be creative in our delivery of God's Word can prove to be a vital tool in effectively getting the saving message of the Gospel across to so many passive people. However, as we develop better strategies we must never fail to ask a few very important questions.

1. Do my methods compromise in any way at all with any of God's commandments?

2. Do my methods compromise in any way at all with the purity of God's message?

3. Have I prayed diligently to God about my methods?

These are vital questions to ask. The failure to check with these guidelines may lead us into doing more damage than good. It's so easy for us to get lost in our ideas that sometimes we lose our sense of priorities and forget the core.

Remember, what's important is not getting our ideas across, but the saving message of Jesus Christ. In all our innovations may God always keep us on track. May we always be humble enough to change our ways to align to His will. And may God's wisdom continually guide us.

God bless us all in Christ Jesus.
