                        Rocky Rollers Chapter Newsletter

                                              July, 2007

The month of June started out with a Social Outing.  They had a very good turnout at Pecatonica Forest Preserve on June 8th-10th.  Tom & Sue Schlueter hosted the weekend.  Saturday morning started out with biscuits & gravy prepared by Tom & Sue. Everyone said they were really good.   Then a fun game of Pictionary was played.  That was something new.  The weekend was a hit. Thanks Tom & Sue. On Saturday night the campground host, Gale who retired last year, was presented with a plaque and cake commemorating his years of service. Gale was well liked and respected by all.

The June Campout was held at the Wisconsin State Samboree in Tomah, Wi.  This year’s theme was “The Roaring 20’s”.  Several people dressed for the era. The weather was hot and for a change it didn’t rain. We were joined by a couple from Elkhorn, Wi.  Doug & Zoe Siperly.  We invited them to join us on a campout sometime.

The July campout will be held at Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Park in Lena, IL. July 20th-22nd.  I think this is one of our favorite campgrounds. We should have a good turnout of members. Kay, Dave & Marissa Meyers will be the hosts for the weekend.  A potluck is planned for the Saturday night meal. Kay & Dave asked us to bring our remote controlled cars & trucks.  Oh Boy sounds like the race is on.

Looking ahead; the August campout will be at Derge Park in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. August 17th-19th.  Then on to Grant River, September 21st-23rd and then ending up at Elkhorn Fairgrounds October 12th-14th.  The Bell Ringers from Madison have agreed to join us that weekend.

This will be my last newsletter to you. I just wanted to thank you all for being so patient with me over the last 6 years.  With no secretarial skills this proved to be a challenge to me but I truly enjoyed it.   I hope you enjoyed the change of getting the newsletter over the internet. I think it would be best to close the web site we have been using and allow Mel to develop her own.  She will come up with something very special I am sure. As a matter of fact I am looking forward to it.  Again thank you for allowing me to serve as your secretary. I was so honored.

Oops!!!  Rich just told me I will probably be sending out the August newsletter. Well That’s ok. So you will hear from me one more time.
