All verses are quoted from the NASB anything in [square brackets] is added by me for clarity.

"Then the LORD God said, `It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him [Adam].' "Genesis 2:18

"The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man." Genesis 2:22

"For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh." Genesis 2:24

So the reason people get married is that God created a woman from a man. At creation the one became two and in marriage the two become one. Jesus said it clearly

"God MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE. FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH; so they are no longer two, but one flesh." Mark 10:6b-8

So the reason to get married is that they are male and female.

"Now the men of Sodom were wicked exceedingly and sinners against the LORD." Genesis 13:13

"And the LORD said, `The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave.' " Genesis 18:20

The people of Sodom and Gomorrah were "wicked exceedingly and sinners and their sin is exceedingly grave." So what is their wickedness. What is this grave sin?

"Before they [the male looking angels] lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter; and they called to Lot and said to him, `Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations [sex] with them.' " Genesis 19:4 & 5

Notice that it is the men of the city who want to have sex with what they think are men.

"just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire." Jude 1:7

Their sin was men going after men and this is "gross immorality".

"You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination." Leviticus 18:22

"If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them." Leviticus 20:13

God outlawed homosexuality in ancient Israel. God describes the homosexual act as "a detestable act", that is worthy of the death penalty.

"For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error." Romans 1:26 & 27

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God." 1 Corinthians 6:9 & 10

"But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching," 1 Timothy 1:8-10

Homosexuals will not enter the kingdom of God.

"An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach," 1 Timothy 3:2

Male overseers should be married to one woman.

"Deacons must be husbands of only one wife, and good managers of their children and their own households." 1 Timothy 3:12

Male deacons should be married to one woman.

"But because of immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband." 1 Corinthians 7:2

A woman should have a man, and a man should have a woman, Not a man and a man or a woman and a woman.

"A widow is to be put on the list only if she is not less than sixty years old, having been the wife of one man," 1 Timothy 5:9

"For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you, namely, if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of dissipation or rebellion." Titus 1:5 & 6

Sodomy (sod'e me) n. unnatural sexual intercourse, especially of one man with another or of a human being with an animal.

The word Sodomy comes from the town of Sodom. Whose sin we have seen was homosexual behaviour.
