I propose that if God created light in transit He would not be a liar if He told us that He created it that way.

Did God tell us that He created light this way?
one could look at the scriptures and conclude that He did.

Does that mean that God did create light in transit?
No. There are other ways of interpreting the text.

So what are the relevant scriptures?

"In the beginning" Genesis 1:1a

The creation of space-time [Day 1].

"Then God said, `Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so. God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.'" Genesis 1:14-19

God creates the Sun, moon and stars. [Day 4]

"Then God said, `Let there be light'; and there was light" Genesis 1:3

So we have seen that light was created on Day 1 which is before the Sun, moon and stars were created on Day 4. Therefore one could conclude that God has created light in transit and told us about it - hence God would not be a liar if He created light this way.
