In the Philippines, men and women are of equal rights in
terms of Information Technology.
There is no law nor restriction against men and women in
this manner. Even engineering courses,
women are as free as men to be in this field,
much more for access in Information Technology.
This could be true in other countries wherein men are not
equal with women. Cultural beliefs, poverty and geographical
location are sometimes what hinder other countries to impose
computerization especially the access to the Internet.
In other places, women are the ones obliged to do household chores,
take care of the children and men are the ones to be in the office.
In this way, women really do not have the chance to use the
Net and other Information Technology equipment.
In United Kingdom, they developed what they called PEG. PEG stands
for Promoting Excellent Government. It was a two year UK Government
Invest to save project, which focused on better customer service in
the e-enabled public sector. PEG is the published results from that
project that are now available in
http://www.peg.org.ukand is an On-line Benchmarking tool.
Both are designed to support the development of modernized customer
service operations in the public sector.
