Making great planets

Here is a very short quick way to make a planet.

Just follow these simple steps . . . I'm assuming you know where to find most everything in PSP.

First create a new image, I used 500 x 500 for this tutorial. You can use any size, just adjust your brush size to make things quick.

I deselect the Transparent box and pick black as the background colour.

Next create a new raster layer nameing it 'Planet'. All work will be done on this layer.

Pick your favourite planet colour. I chose the forground to be orange and the background black.

The black is not really needed, I just flip the colours and use it has an eraser.

I used the airbrush with these settings.

Start with your brush in the centre and continue to draw until you have something like I have below.

Lean more to the left, as the motion blur will push to the right later on.

You can be creative here and mix up the colours and try numberous combinations.

Now we will apply a motion blur. I used an angle of 75 and 100% strength.

Try adjusting the angel to produce different effect.

The results of the motion blur

Now apply a Gaussian blur with a radius of 6.

Now finally, apply a Spherize at 100% strength. It is located under Effect then Geometric Effect.

That's it!! You have just created a planet!!

Now go back and add other colours.

Look at these examples. I reduced them to 200 x 200.
