Record Plant NYC Reunion

2/26/00

So one night in Los Angeles, former Record Plant NYC employees met to honor
one of our own, Mr. Dennis Ferrante on his Grammy award!

(actually we were just there to get drunk, but what the hell!)

;

Would you buy a limiter from this man?
Roy is actually living here in Los Angeles now and causing much havoc on the already
way too crowded freeways.
He is driving a Mercury SUV, powered by 14 CBS audiomax Limiters all chained together.

Would you buy some wine from either of these guys?
It's Jim Fitzpatrick (left) and Carmine Rubino (right)

Jim has been working in the film business, mixing music for  Todd AO  for feature films
for the last 10 or so years.
He has given up on seeing "Orange" or George Chandler ever finish their demos.
He still can burp louder than anyone I know.

Carmine is also working in films, recording Foley for
Sony Pictures   in Culver City CA.
He has sold most of his cars and now has become a wino!
Actually he and his nephew have a vineyard North of Los Angeles and are almost ready
with their first vintage.
Don't look for them in any stores, they plan on drinking it all themselves.

Carmine is still trying to convince us that Bob Shad was a nice guy.
I don't think Paul Sloman (left) is convinced.
Paul who managed the Record Plant for several years has also managed Atlantic Studios in NYC,
A&M Studios  in LA, Sony Studios in NYC and is presently an owner of   Triloka Records

He has always had trouble holding down a job!

Ricky Delena (left) is keeping a sharp eye on Paul Schwartz (middle - owner of Studio 56 here in LA and a partner with Roy, god help him!) and Paul Sloman.
It seems they stole his shoes (and I am not talking about Jimmy Iovine)

Ricky is also in the film business (post production) and is one of the owners of a company called
Digital Sound Works  here in Los Angeles.
He has given up wearing platform shoes but keeps all of them in his closet just in case that style from his old Brooklyn days comes back.

Jimmy Iovine, Thom Panunzio and Dave Thoener
(another Grammy winner this year for "Smooth" by Santana) were all no shows - those bastards!

And Now Here is the Man of the Hour:

Mr. Dennis Ferrante

who was accompanied by the lovely Miss Loretta,
who probably will never want to see any of us again....or Dennis for that matter.

Look it's a deer in the headlights!!

Dennis is still working at BMG,
I don't think they knew he was still there till the awards were announced.
It seems he has been hiding out in the basement for all these years, trying finish the "Trigger" demos with Corky Stasiak.
(anyone know where HE is?)

Well in the usual RPS Style we managed to disrupt the entire restaurant and drink a lot!

But as we left we made a new friend.....I never did get her name but she agreed to pose with us.

What a bunch of dirty old men!

A fine time was had by all and hopefully we won't have to wait another 20 years to see each other again.

Anyone who has any photos from this dinner or any of the other RPS functions, the Christmas parties,
sessions or just photos of all people who might have worked there, (work, now that's a laugh!)
please scan them, email them, or send them to me.
I will return all original photos.
