On November 8, 2003 a new bridge was opened across the Carquinez Strait. It links Vallejo (Solano County) and Crockett (Contra Costa County) and carries Interstate 80. After the ceremonies, visitors were allowed to walk the length of the new bridge.

  • Chi took this picture of Tina and me heading for the side to get a better view.

Another shot of Tina as I walk away.

Chi is on the railing. There was a walk way behind her so she was in no danger of falling off the bridge.

As the previous pictures showed, it was a cloudy day. But the rain got heavy later on as we waited for the shuttle bus to take us home. This was in the city of Crockett, on the Contra Costa County side of the bridge.

On Saturday, Sep 7, 2002 we visited the Western Railroad Museum, near Suisun City. They have a very good collection of municipal railway cars, some from as far away as Great Brittain and Australia. But most are from California. Some of them are actually driveable.

Here are Chi and Tina learning how to drive a San Francisco Municipal Railroad subway/street car.

Here are Chi, Tina and Danny following the conductor to the opposite end of the car. We had ridden a short distance in one direction and were about to go back to our starting point. The back of the train became the front. It has identical controls at both ends.

Here are Chi and Tina at the museum's duck pond. The SF Muni car we had ridden is in the background.

On Sunday, Oct 27, 2002 we went for a bike ride. We checked out the new playground equipment at Napa Junction School.

Tina found the new plastic slide generates lots of static electricity.

Chi made herself dizzy on a spinner.

Tina took this picture of Stacey removing wood chips from her shoes and pants.
