In 1824 Alice
Sando and husband Thomas Pollard emigrated to
Minersville, PA where they mined coal. Michael Sando emigrates to Minersville, PA Jane Sando arrived in Boston port with children Eliza (8), William (5), Michael (11) and Susan (2). At Coal Castle Michael Sando put down a drift to the Mammoth vein, about 1832, and mined coal on a small scale about ten years.
