The Andaries-Naulon Shell Unit


An Andaries-Naulon Shell Unit in action on Terra. Ownership unknown (probably criminal).

The Naulon Pod is a rebuilt version of the Raulon’ve fighter pod. This fast and highly maneuverable Mecha is used as the outermost shell of the Andaries Multi-Stage Mecha System, and as such the primary attack unit. Easily as maneuverable and armored as any other unit, its weapons are limited to Pulse Guns and missiles compared to the other layers. However, because of the unusual way the Nalug had to fit into the cockpit, the weapons arms, the system HAS had it’s weapons systems upgraded, LAP-inspired M.R.M. Launchers, and top mounted P.B.C. can also be brought of the Nalug Master Unit, can be bought to bear on an enemy. They are fast, respond quickly, and are heavily armed and very small targets. The large jets can maintain speeds of about Mach 5, allowing it to escape planetary gravity. Flight is also assisted by the installation of wings scavenged off of R.D.F.-era shuttles which can fold up against the fuselage when on the ground.

Weapons Systems:
1. High Speed Rotating Tri-Barrel Laser Pulse Gun: These front mounted Tri-Barrel Laser Pulse Gun is the primary weapon of the Fighter Pod, and is used in high speed air to air combat situations where missiles will not work. The high level of damage they inflict is attributed to their tri-barrel configuration and high rate of fire.

2. Close Combat Missile Launcher (6): The Naulon is equipped with six missile launchers, two situated towards the rear of the Mecha behind the pilot, on the left and right hand sides, and two on the underside. The launchers each hold 6 short range missiles for a total of 36 missiles.

Features:
  • Radar: Combat grade radar. Range 1ØØ miles, can track up to 2,5ØØ individual targets. 9Ø% reliability (5% against unfriendly stealthed vehicles).
  • FLIR/SLIR: Forward and Side Looking Infrared. Allows pilot to get visuals on targets at night.
  • Loudspeaker: Amplifies voice 1 to 1ØØ times. 1ØØ’ in normal crowds.
  • Full range optic sensory suite: Infrared, ultra violet, Magnification, night sight, color filters, thermal imager. Range is about 2ØØ miles for MOST sensors.
  • Magnetic Clamps: Electro magnets in the pads of the landing struts the unit to adhere to the hulls of warships and the exteriors of SOME buildings. Note: Despite the fact that Invid hives are NOT made of metal, there is ussually suffiecient metals in them that they can be scaled this way.
  • AMC/FD (2): Anti-Missile Chaff/Flare Dispensers. Actually launches a glob of burning magnesium/aluminum alloy to confuse both radar AND heat sensory systems. Fires off Ø4 chaff/flares each time it is activated. The system is known to work on all radar, infrared, and other sensory systems, but it does not work on Invid Protocutlure sensors as well (-5Ø%). Reduce effects by 2Ø% against smart missiles (add +2Ø% to rolls for smart missiles.)
    Effect:
    Ø1-5Ø Enemy missile or missile volley detonates in chaff cloud- Missiles are all destroyed.
    51-75 Enemy missile or missile volley loses track of real target and veers away in wrong direction (may lock onto another target).
    76-ØØ No effect, missile is still on target.
    Also note that the chaff cloud will also blind nearby heat sensors (and optically based sensors at night) for 1 melee. They will suffer the following penalties: Reduce melee attacks/actions, and combat bonuses by half.
    Duration: 1D4 melee rounds.
    Payload: 6Ø chaff/flares. Each time the system is engaged, the system fires off Ø4 chaff/flares.
  • Towed Decoy Pods: Located on the rear upper torso between the thrusters, each is a specially designed radar lure that creates a radar image to mimic the machine. If decoys are not destroyed, they can be recovered and repaired. This system has been successfully deployed against SEVERAL alien radar-type sensors (including one that works off of sound).

    Effects: The decoy has a 98% chance of fooling ordinary non military radars and non smart guided missiles, and a 9Ø% chance of fooling military grade radars and advanced smart missiles.

  • CS/A-Ø13(a) Communications Satellite: Each Naulon Shell Unit carries 1 of these disposable satellites for extended communications and radar range.
