In the year 198X, FASA attempted to steal the TRADEMARKED AND COPYRIGHTED term "Droids" from Lucas Films. Ok, so a lot of people did, but most of us are idiot fan-boys, not executives in charge of major corporation. FASA backed down, but then promptly turned to steal Mecha from Palladium; A slight name change (actually not a name change, what they did was leave the original names in), and viola! Instant Robots Wars game. (Is that name copyrighted?) Of course this was PLAGIARISM of the worst kind, and it was made worse by the way FASA went about BREAKING THE LAW; What they did was purchase the Model Sheets in Japan; Since that sort of thing IS legal there, FASA figured a slam dunk. Palladium did NOT roll over and play dead, of course, but FASA had more lawyers; They were under the Paramount umbrella at the time. (FASA had earlier demanded Paramount cancel Star Fleet Game's still in force contract for the Star Trek RPG; Though it was still legally binding, FASA wanted te name, so they insisted Paramount break the contract. Paramount did so buy buying more lawyers than SFG could pay an ONE lawyer.) When Palladium and FASA went head to head, the courts (wrongly, and I believe illegally) eventually found for FASA to a certain degree; All the Macross-Era Mecha they'd stolen EXCEPT the MAC-II/Monster they could keep; Everything else they couldn't. It's a dammed shame FASA resorted to such underhanded tricks, but then their supposed bankruptcy (coughcoughembezzlementCOOOOOOOOGH) show's how "up and up" they keep things. Either way, with this in mind, I say SCREW THEM; And, for "legal" reasons, I declare that all herein contained is presented with satiric intent (FUCK YOU FASA/Wiz Kidz), and therefore is protected under the First Amendment. (Wiz Kidz special info: Wiz Kidz is where FASA hid the money. It's still supposedly a new company, so I don't feel like spending another forever playing "chase-the-embezzlers".)
