LOOK MA, NO GYM YET. In early November 2002, the structures inside the old municipal compound, including the old Town Hall and the Municipal Stage, were hastily demolished to give way to a Multi-Purpose Building (Gymnasium) Project worth P9.6-million. The project billboard of the Department of Public Works and Highways (above photo, right) showed Nov. 18, 2002 as starting date and Oct. 23, 2003 as date of completion. The two bottom photos, taken last Nov. 1, 2003, shows the current state of the project, which was contracted to A&C Enterprises, known to be owned by Charlie Chong. The unfinished structure now looks like a very expensive pavement for drying copra or rice.
