CORNERSTONE LAYING. Blessing of the cornerstone of the Naval Puericulture Center on July 26, 1948. An identified male in the picture is Dr. Jorge Zamora, later lieutenant-governor of Biliran (leftmost, back row). The identified women (from left) are Mrs. Julia Ang; Mrs. Antera Delfin (second from left); Mrs. Maria Velasquez (fourth from left); Mrs. Juanita (?) Quijano (fifth from left); Mrs. (?) Bontes (sixth from left); Mrs. Cayetana Bernardes (seventh from left). The priest is either Fr. Sabino Abrera or Fr. Deodato Esplanada.

The old convento, located at the corner of Castin and Padre Inocentes Streets, just across from the present Botica Velasquez, is at the background of the picture. The puericulture building, eventually constructed beside the town hall, had undergone various renovations. It houses the Rural Health Unit.

RECEPTION FOR THE BISHOP. A souvenir photo during the reception for visiting Bishop Lino R. Gonzaga of the Diocese of Palo, probably at the Velasquez ancestral house on Corvera Street, held after the blessing and inauguration of the Naval Parish Hall (the Chapel) in early 1964. The parish hall served as temporary church while the new chuch building was being constructed.

COFRADIAS OF NAVAL. Fr. Miles Pfalzer, OFM, parish priest of Naval from 1957 to 1962, poses for a picture with members of various cofradias of Naval. The picture was probably taken by the doorway of the old convento. Some women identifiable by the webmaster are Mrs. Pastora Manco of Barangay Caraycaray (front row, second from left); Mrs. Magdalena Sabonsolin (behind Mrs. Manco, beside Fr. Miles); Mrs. Pelagia Jamin (to the left of the priest); and Mrs. Maria Velasquez (behind Mrs. Jamin).

PAROCHIAL VISIT OF BISHOP. Bishop Lino R. Gonzaga, during a parochial visit to Naval in 1964, is ceremonially sheltered by prominent local residents. Holding the pole to the right is Mr. Nicasio Parilla. Another is Mr. Santos Mocorro (behind the bishop, wearing eyeglasses).
