What we get here now, is a defining of terms. I would just like to take the time right now to tell you that this is not just strictly for anime fanfics, therefore I have also included a few other animation shows as well as a general category. If these do not go over well then I will remove them and any entries that have already been sent to me will automatically be hosted on my website under the specified category. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me.

Angst- A very sad, sob your eyes out story. Often includes the death of a character.

Alternative Reality- Taking the characters from the anime and, basically, changing their reality. For example, giving them all magic powers, if they don't already have them, or taking them away if they do. It's pretty much anything that's definately not in the storyline.

Comedy- Pretty easy to figure out. It's a funny story. That's about it.

Romance- Lovey-dovey get together story. It doesn't matter who gets together, and, really, they don't have to stay together, but it is romantic in some way or another.

Song-fic/Video-fic- A story that's written around a song, using the lyrics to further the story or it's meaning./It's like a music video. Usually no one says something unless it's a line from the song.

Parody- It's kind of like an alternative reality, except you're putting the characters in situation used in a different story. Like putting the Sailor Scouts in a James Bond type story or putting the Tenchi gang in a fairy tale. Often it makes fun of the thing you put them in.

Soap-Opera- This is a fic that is written in the style of a soap-opera.
Crossover- This is the mixing of two stories In the contest, for this category, you have to use two or more of the anime categories below. You can use any or all of the series' listed below and if there is one that I've forgotten please let me know so that I can correct the problem next year.

One-Shot- A story with only one part. This is one of the overall categories, so entering any other category, within an anime, will enter you in the best one-shot category for that anime.

Multi-Part- A story with more than one part. Another overall category like the one above.

Overall- This is the best overall fanfic. Every story from every anime is included in this. As you can imagine, it's a hard one to pick a winner for.
