Armor

Most of the armor of the period did not cover the arms or legs unless grives were worn. Roman armor usually included a small skirt made of studded leather strips that hung below the waist.

Celtic helms could be fancifully decorated with engraving, inlay, horns etc. Roman helmets were unadorned except for officers, who wore various crests on top.

Shields of the period were held in the fist, punching style, not strapped to the arm. Therefore, nothing can be held in the shield hand except the shield.
